What is a tornadoes and where do they occur?

A tornado is a funnel-shaped air that is formed by clouds coming into contact with the ground. The funnel spins violently with winds spinning at 300 miles per hour! For this reason, the tornadoes cause serious damages, injuries, and even death!
Every year there are around 1,000 tornadoes that hit the U.S. Many tornadoes have striked states in the midwest section of the U.S.  (this image is from:        http://www.tornadochaser.net/tornadoalley.jpg)
